WHAT TIMES CAN I CHECK-IN + CHECK-OUT?
Check-in is from 15h00. Check-out is no later than 11h00. Do note our cleaning members arrive at precisely 11h15.

CAN I CHECK-IN EARLY?
We are happy to accommodate an early check in if it is possible. In the event we have back-to-back bookings unfortunately we won’t be able to. Please contact us upon booking to enquire and we will confirm.

CAN I CHECK-OUT LATE?
No due to the length of time needed to prepare for the arrival of new guest/s we are not to provide a late check out.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO AT BARNEYS RUINS?
Many people like to relax, wind down and enjoy the surroundings. If you wish to explore our beautiful area further, there is much to see and do in the local area and further afield. You can find a list on our explore page.

IS BARNEYS RUINS SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN + INFANTS?
Our properties are strictly adults only (18 years +).

ARE PETS ALLOWED?
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets at Barneys Ruins due to livestock in the adjacent fields. Guide and assistance dogs are the exception. Please enquire prior to booking.

DO YOU PROVIDE BEDLINEN + TOWELS?
Bedlinen and towels are provided for both the cottage and the barn. Robes and slippers will be provided for the cottage only.

WHAT BATHING AMENITIES ARE SUPPLIED?
Hand and body wash, shampoo and conditioner are supplied.

IS THERE A HAIRDRYER?
Hairdryers are supplied in both of our properties.

WHAT PANTRY ITEMS ARE SUPPLIED?
Some basic pantry items are available, including, olive and cooking oil, coffee pods, tea, salt, pepper, and an array of typical condiments.

IS THERE A COFFEE MACHINE?
We have coffee pod machines in both properties, which take Nespresso coffee pods.

WHAT COOKING FACILITIES ARE THERE?
Both properties have basic kitchens, with a two-ring hob, microwave combination oven, sink, fridge freezer, toaster, boiling water tap and coffee machine.

LONGER STAY
If you have a longer stay and wish for additional changes to bedlinen, towels, or the property to be cleaned, these can be accommodated at an extra cost.

HOW MANY ADULTS CAN BARNEY’S RUINS ACCOMMODATE?
There are two properties which can accommodate a total of 4 adults. The cottage can accommodate 2 adults (1 x king bed) and the barn can accommodate 2 adults (1 x double bed)

DOES EACH PROPERTY HAVE ITS OWN OUTDOOR SPACE?
Although both properties are in close proximity, they have their own outlook and amenity space. The cottage has a balcony overlooking the old cottage ruins and across the adjacent fields, a seating area with firepit within the once living area of the old cottage ruins, and outdoor bathtubs. The barn has a patio to the rear with a seating area and firepit capturing views across the adjacent field.

ARE ANY OF YOUR PROPERTIES SUITABLE FOR WHEELCHAIR ACCESS?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our grounds we are not able to accommodate wheelchair users. If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability that may affect your booking, please tell us before you confirm your booking and give us full details in writing as early as possible before you travel. If we feel unable to properly meet that person’s particular needs, we can refuse or cancel the reservation. 

DO THE PROPERTIES HAVE TV + WIFI?
Each property has a television and Wi-Fi.

DO YOU OFFER ANY EXTRAS?
Yes. We have a few extras that you can include in your stay available at booking.

DO YOU BESPOKE REQUESTS?
Yes. We are always happy to cater for any bespoke special requests, may that be internal fires lit on arrival, champagne at the ready, nothing is too much. Upon booking do contact us to discuss as this may incur an additional fee.

WILL WE BE ABLE TO VIEW LIVESTOCK FROM OUR PROPERTY
We do hope that you will be able to view livestock from your accommodation in the adjacent or nearby fields however as Barneys Ruins is located on a working farm this is not a guarantee. The livestock are moved around throughout the year for grazing.

WHERE IS BARNEYS RUINS LOCATED?
We are situated in the townland of Gortinure, just outside Maghera. Barneys Ruins is accessed along a gravel agricultural laneway off the Gortinure Road.

DO I NEED A CAR WHEN STAYING AT BARNEYS RUINS?
There is very limited public transport as our property is located some way away from the nearest main road. There is room for 2 cars to park near the properties, however, do note the parking is not undercover and it is a short walk of approximately 230 meters to the properties, there is a pickup and drop off area provided adjacent to the properties. 

HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM THE NEAREST TOWN?
We are approximately a 7-minute drive (3.5 miles) from Maghera.

WHAT SHOPS ARE THERE IN TOWN?
There are several amenity shops, supermarkets, liquor stores, chemists, plus a handful of eateries. 

HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM BELFAST?
We are approximately a 54-minute drive (45 miles) from Belfast. The closest airport is Belfast International, approximately a 45-minute drive (31 miles). 

HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM DUBLIN?
We are approximately a 2-hour 45-minute drive (148 miles) from Dublin. 

I AM SEARCHING FOR A DATE WINDOW, BUT NOTHING IS COMING UP.
This generally means that we are already booked, and nothing is available. Try extending your date window out several months. 

HOW MUCH DO YOU TAKE AS A DEPOSIT?
All bookings require a non-refundable 50% deposit.

WHEN IS THE BALANCE DUE?
The balance is due 4 weeks prior to stay. Bookings made within 4 weeks from the date of check in must be paid in full at the time of booking. All bookings are non-refundable. 

IS THERE A BREAKAGE DEPOSIT?
Yes. On check-in an authorisation hold is applied to your credit card at £200 and released 24hrs after check-out. You will be notified immediately of any damage occurred during your stay by a member of our team who will provide photographic evidence.

CANCELATION, DATE CHANGE + NO SHOW POLICY
Bookings are non-refundable and for guests wishing to cancel more than 4 weeks prior to their check in date we will issue a voucher (valid for 12 months from the date of stay) to the value of the booking. In the event that there is no further availability in the calendar due to back-to-back bookings, your booking will be forfeited. Cancellations or date change requests made less than 4 weeks prior to the day of check in will be charged in full. No show guests will be charged in full. We recommend all guests purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen changes to their travel plans.

SOMETHINGS COME UP; CAN I MOVE MY BOOKING?
If it is at least 4 weeks prior to check in, we are happy to move your booking to another time. Although if we are heavily booked ahead, this may not be for a while, and we cannot guarantee availability.

WHAT IF I HAVE BOOKED THROUGH AIRBNB OR BOOKING.COM?
If you have booked through AIRBNB or BOOKING.COM, their terms and conditions apply to the booking. Please contact them directly.  

I SEEM TO HAVE BEEN OVERCHARGED?
This is most likely the breakage deposit for your stay.  It is a credit card hold only and will be released back to you 24 hours after you check-out. In the event you have not received your refund, please contact us.

CAN I PURCHASE A GIFT VOUCHER?
Yes. Please navigate to the gifting icon to purchase. We have a digital version that can be emailed and printed at home.

HOW LONG IS A VOUCHER VALID FOR?
Gift vouchers are valid for stays within 12 months from the date of issue and may not be redeemed beyond that period.

HOW DO I REDEEM A VOUCHER?
Reservations using a voucher can be made online or via stay@barneysruins.com.

DO YOU HOST EVENTS?
Yes. Only with prior arrangement. Contact us to discuss availability and fees.
